Ways to keep your heart happy and control blood pressure!

I love herbs over medications because they contain protective polyphenols that offer antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.

Blood pressure is a silent killer due to its ability to be elevated without experiencing symptoms. Uncontrolled blood pressure can lead to other health problems, especially if you are at risk or have diabetes.

Here are a few things you can do to regulate blood pressure:

Adequate rest (At least 6 hours, but really, 8 is the ideal number)

Know what is stressing you out and find activities and healthy solutions to lower your stress (sometimes that means cutting people and things out of your life)

Move and elevate your heart rate - choose whatever exercise makes you happy!

As you go through your day, you can breathe deep and exhale (think of something that decreases tension and releases negativity).

Ensure daily intake of the following dark green leafy vegetables, nuts, fruits, legumes, fish, and cacao, which are good sources of magnesium - magnesium helps with not only lowering blood pressure but helps with regulate blood glucose.

Here are some herbs that are good for hypertension and overall heart health:

Garlic (Allium sativum)

Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba)

Hawthorn (Crataegus lavigata)

Supplements that are good for your heart:

Coenzyme Q10

B Vitamins (B6 and B12)

Folic Acid

Vitamin C and E

**Always consult with your physician**
